Patrón Secret Dining Society
Thought there was no such thing as a gastronomic secret society? A place where top chefs and master bartenders dish out gratis dinner and cocktails to the lucky few who know the password? Think again. For some time now, Patrón Tequila has been hosting a series of under-the-radar dinners around the country. Dubbed the Secret Dining Society, the dinners are created by some of the country's best-known chefs—like Marcus Samuelsson recently in New York. The chefs collaborate with mixologists on an innovative multi-course menu paired with equally progressive tequila cocktails.
Of course, access is limited to members of the Patrón Social Club. Details and the location for the clandestine events are kept under close wraps until the next dinner is imminent. (You may've seen the countdown happening in some of the ads here on the site.) Simply sign up for Patrón Social Club and when the secret society touches down in your city, you'll receive an email with further instructions to be put on the shortlist for a chance at a seat. And there are plenty of events coming up this summer so sign up now to stay in the know.

World's priciest iPad costs $1.2 million
I just dialed in my Ipad and I am loving it.
But my Ipad is nothing in comparison to the $1.2 million diamond-encrusted iPad from Camael Diamonds. The company calls it the world's most expensive iPad, and I'm not going to argue with that.
For do-it-yourselfers who want to bedazzle their own iPads, this only requires 1 kilo of 18 carat gold and 300 carats worth of perfect diamonds. Black diamonds grace the home button and Apple logo on the back. Just pop down to your local jeweler to pick up all the supplies you need.
Camael will happily customize your gazillion-dollar iPad with the gems of your choice. This is a smart way to go, as it would be horribly embarrassing to accidentally pick up someone else's look-alike diamond-slathered iPad at Starbucks.
Camael says it has already received inquiries about customizing its iPad offering. I'm not sure who is making those inquiries, but I don't think it's anyone I know. I'll ask around just to be sure. If it's you, please be sure to confess in the comments.
The Camael iPad joins a crowded field of luxury gadgets that includes a gold-plated Kindle, a Versace cell phone, and a diamond-covered iPhone. These may all be effective ways to flaunt your wealth in the face of tough economic times, but the diamond iPad trounces the competition when it comes to sheer garishness.
If $1.2 million is a little on the high side for your budget, you can always step down to the gold-plated iPad for just $146,000. What a bargain!

You can't really take USC's title
Who won the Super Bowl for the 2004 season?
It might take you a few moments to remember, unless you're a New England fan.
Who won the 2004 NBA title, or the World Series, or the NCAA men's basketball championship?
If you lead any sort of a life and you don't waste valuable brain space on useless sports lists - guilty as charged - you'd probably need your entire lunch break to come up with the Detroit Pistons, Boston Red Sox, and UConn Huskies, and only after you looked up at least one of the three.
Every week there's something big happening in the sports world, pumped up by a relentless, memory-blurring news cycle that marches from one major event to the next. How disposable are sports titles in today's day and age? Give this an honest run.
Pull up the stopwatch on your phone and hit Start ... now.
Name the four teams that played in the 2011 NCAA Final Four.
It shouldn't be that hard. After all, it happened just two months ago and it was supposedly the biggest sporting event in America next to the Super Bowl.
The BCS "presidential oversight committee" - which includes several school presidents, led by Penn State's Graham Spanier playing the role of Greg Marmalard - is trying to unring the bell of the 2004 college football season, the 2005 Orange Bowl and the 2006 Rose Bowl, but instead just put a bright, shiny, "hey, look at me" sign on the USC teams that won the 2004 national title and lost to Texas in an epic title game following the 2005 season.
Just like Reggie Bush's 2005 Heisman campaign will forever stand out because of the controversy that ensued, the BCS has unnecessarily called attention to an era of Trojan football that'll now be even more unique and even more memorable than it already was.

Google Logo is Guitar Tuner in Honor of Les Paul
Guitar chords, eh? The Google homepage logo this morning doesn't look much like the word "Google," but no matter. The Google Doodle today is a stylized guitar in honor of Les Paul, the legendary musician who would have turned 96 today.
And it's playable. Turn up the sound on your computer, move your mouse over the logo, and enjoy the results. You can even record what you play. Click on the black button near the bottom right corner of the logo, strum for up to 30 seconds, and click again. Google will reply with a short URL, or Web address. You can copy that and email it to your friends.
Les Paul -- to say nothing of your friends -- might cover his ears at the cacophony that's been created today. But that's the fun of it. Out of respect for your neighbors, and perhaps your office mates, you may want to keep your computer's volume low.

Gallery Nightclub: 20,000-Square-Foot, Art-Inspired Space With Room for 2,300
The main room has a sprawling dance floor, two bars, and an elevated DJ booth. High-tech sound and lighting blanket the space, where DJs spin a mix of house, mash-ups, hip-hop, and Top 40. There are connecting dance platforms behind the club’s many V.I.P. booths to encourage interaction throughout the room. Oversize frames adorn the walls, showcasing original photography depicting voyeuristic imagery. Designed by Amy Kim of AK DesignNetwork (whose design credits include collaboration with Philippe Starck on the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills), the 20,000-square-foot space merges vintage gothic design with modern touches.
In the red room, subjects in 3-D seem to photographs follow guests’ moves, and in the gold room, gold lighting washes the circular alcove. Performance dancers styled in voyeuristic fashions perform nightly. Candlelit glass fireplaces are scattered throughout the venue, creating a glow in all the rooms.

Ferguson Wins The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale
In defeating Ramsey Nijem with a first-round knockout Saturday night in Las Vegas at the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale, Ferguson became the winner of the 13th season of the Spike reality show. That earned the 27-year-old welterweight the "six-figure contract" that UFC president Dana White loves to tout at these finales, and with it he gets the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of past TUF champions Griffin (Season 1), Evans (Season 2) and Serra (Season 4), all of whom went on to win a UFC championship. Forrest and Rashad wore the belt at light heavyweight and Matt at welter after a stunning 2007 upset of Georges St-Pierre.
Ferguson put on a stunning performance of his own. Coming into the finale with a 10-2 record built in various minor-league MMA outfits in his native California, he jump-started his new career in the big show with an electrifying finish. After displaying strong wrestling he skills he hadn't shown off during the TV show -- perhaps the result of training for this bout at the wrestling-heavy camp of his TUF coach, Brock Lesnar -- Ferguson returned to his bread and butter, connecting with a big left hook that floored and immobilized Nijem, followed by a couple of flush rights that stiffened the 24-year-old before referee Josh Rosenthal could jump at 3:54 of the round.
"Holy crap, man," Ferguson said as he was watching the end of the fight on a big screen in the arena. "It's kind of like, I don't remember even throwing that. I know he got me a couple of times, but I weathered the storm. I knew he was going to try to take me down, so just like B.J. Penn and [Jon] Fitch, you know, take him out of his own game."

STACKED is touted as a 'fast-casual-plus' eatery, complete with iPads
If you have not tried Stacked, you are missing out on a whole new concept in casual dinning. Read more below:
BJ's Restaurants co-founders open new dining concept
Huntington Beach-based BJ's Restaurants Inc. Co-Founders Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessy are launching a new "fast-casual-plus" dining concept – this time with iPads.
When the first STACKED: food well built opens in May in Torrance, diners will be able to design their own meals using tableside Apple iPads, starting from the plate up. The use of the iPad enables the eatery to offer more upscale food options and better service than typical fast-casual eateries, according to the restaurant.
"STACKED defies existing categories and will elevate fast-casual dining to a new experience that we are calling ‘fast-casual PLUS,’” said Motenko of the new Irvine-based concept.
Diners can choose from a range of signature items, including a smoked-salmon-topped pizza with a blend of cheeses, among other ingredients, or a burger with fried egg, Swiss cheese, bacon and sundried tomato aioli, and classic salads, such as a steakhouse-inspired wedge. Or, diners can build their own dishes. More than 35 ingredients are offered for salads alone, as well as burgers with the choice of certified Angus beef, chicken, turkey, salmon or vegetarian options, four types of buns, and different toppings and sauces; sausage selections; and pizzas with slow-cooked pulled pork or veggies, among others. The eatery also will offer a selection of sides, a kids menu, beer and wine, and customizable or signature shakes and ice-cream sandwiches.
After diners submit their orders via the iPad, the eatery's servers deliver the meals to the tables. In addition, the restaurant will allow customers to store their menu favorites for future visits, and it will offer to-go service.
“Integrating personalized ordering technology into the restaurant business model allows us to focus on providing our guests a higher quality, more enjoyable dining experience at a much better value than traditional casual restaurants,” said Motenko, who, along with Hennessy, left BJ's Restaurants in 2008.
The first STACKED location, slated to open at the Del Amo Fashion Center, will be housed in a 6,300-square-foot space and will offer seating for 160. It will boast a modern industrial atmosphere with steel sash windows, wood floors, open kitchens, social dining counters, booths and colorful lighting. STACKED Restaurants also has plans to open two additional eateries this year – one at Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego this summer, followed by Los Cerritos Center in the fall.

When Theater and Nightlife Merge, Everyone Wins
“Sleep No More” is an insane, interactive theater experience. Situated inside the (fictitious) McKittrick hotel, producers are putting Manhattan’s Club Row (West 27th Street between 10th and 11th avenues) back on the relevancy map with their over-the-top creation. Approximately 100,000 square feet of space — much of which was repurposed from closed clubs such as Home and Guest House — was converted into a stunning 1930s replica of a hotel; a live, dark, sexually charged version of Macbeth plays out within. The audience stares from the corners of various rooms, clad in “Eyes Wide Shut” style masks, which must remain on at all times. Even during the orgy scene.
The superb acting aside, the ability to interact with the actors noted and the level of fear that steadily rises as guests wordlessly (one of the only mandates of the show) wind their way through this dimly lit fantasy world acknowledged, one of the more interesting aspects of the show is its partial foundation and development in nightclubs. That’s because of Randy Weiner, who had a large hand in the development and execution of “Sleep No More.” The fascinating entertainment veteran is no stranger to bringing theatre into clubs
