NASCAR Star Kyle Busch Busted For Doing 128 MPH In Lexus LFA

NASCAR star Kyle Busch, currently third in the Sprint Cup standings, was pulled over on a road near his home in Mooresville, North Carolina yesterday for speeding in a bright yellow 2012 Lexus
LFA not unlike the one pictured above.

Busch was driving with his wife Samantha in the car at a speed of 128 mph in a 45 mph zone when he was spotted by local police and subsequently pulled over.

He was given a citation for speeding, as well as careless and reckless driving, and has since apologized for his actions, stating that he will never do anything like that again--on public roads at least.

The yellow LFA Busch was driving was on loan to him from Lexus and was to be returned the next day.
Interestingly, this wasn’t Busch’s first traffic citation.

In 2006 he was issued a summons for reckless driving in Richmond, Virginia for screeching his tires in a fast food parking lot, and in 2008 he was reportedly cited for doing 55 mph in a 35 mph zone in Iredell County, North Carolina.

Trump wine coming to liquor store near you

Want to wine and dine like Donald Trump? Sip on a glass of Trump Wine.

After ongoing negotiations, the real estate tycoon finalized the deal to buy the Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyard outside Charlottesville in Virginia last week.

He paid the bargain price of $6.2 million for 800 acres in a bank auction, reported the Washington Post.

“I’m really interested in good real estate, not so much in wine,” Trump said. “This place had a $28 million mortgage on it, and I bought it for $6.2 million.”

Trump swooped in to buy the property as a “white knight” investor from friend Patricia Kluge, an embattled Virginia socialite. He will keep Kluge on to head operations.

The vineyards produce varietals that include Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

In addition to his empire of hotels and golf courses, Trump’s investments include a range of luxury foodstuffs like Trump Vodka, Trump Tea, Trump Chocolate and bottled spring water, Trump Ice.

10 Ideas for Summer Entertaining in Los Angeles

Here are new ideas for group outings, catering, client entertaining, gifts, and entertaining summer associates and interns in Los Angeles.

1. An in-office catering treat can also be a pick-me-up: Isabella's Cookie Company now offers the "Mocha Monster," a powerful creation that it claims works better than two cups of espresso. The brown sugar cookie is made with five shots of fresh espresso, and packed with huge chunks of milk chocolate.

2. Mind the carnivores in the crowd with a catering option that also happens to make quite a spectacle. Tender Greens is now offering a new whole-animal roasting option. It's available for off-site catering and orders must be place at least one week in advance. Orders should be made through Tender Greens Catering and inquiries may be made online here.
3. Make a stop for some L.A. culture: Lacma will present "The Mourners: Tomb Sculptures from the Court of Burgundy," a group of nearly 40 alabaster sculptures that have never before been presented together outside of France, on view from May 8 through July 31 as part of the first and only seven-city exhibition tour in the U.S. The exhibition will be presented with a line-up of public programming that includes music, dance, and wine tasting. (While there, stop by the Patina Restaurant Group's new Ray’s restaurant and Stark Bar adjacent to the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion.)

4. Nothing says summer like fro-yo, and nothing says L.A. like Pinkberry. Combine the two with Pinkberry Catering for an in-office or off-site event. Pick summery flavors and toppings, and the group offers either full service (team members will come to the event, set-up pre-swirled yogurt and toppings, and stay to present the treats to guests) or drop-off service (transportation of pre-swirled yogurt and toppings to events).

5. To really make an impression, take a small group for a quick trip to Las Vegas. JetSuite, a fleet of four-seater private jets from a former JetBlue executive and a group of its former pilots, offers a $999 per-flight rate between Van Nuys and Las Vegas.

6. For a festive gift with a down-home feel around the 4th of July, give a stars-and-stripes-themed package of pies baked in eight-ounce mason jars from All Jarred Up.

7. Take a group to cheer the home team on at Dodger Stadium. Inside, try the newest concession: Doyer Dogs, a souped-up, spicy version of the traditional Dodger Dogs inspired by the Spanish version of the team's name. The all-beef hot dogs are grilled, served with nacho cheese, chili, chopped tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos and are available at Camacho stands throughout the park.

8. Get an early start on entertaining: Radar L.A. is a new international festival of contemporary theater running June 14 through 20. The festival is produced by Redcat in collaboration with Center Theatre Group and the Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival, and a broader consortium. Group ticketing is available.

9. FoodInk Catering and Bling Bling Dumpling recently announced a new collaboration, and have just launched a new dim sum cart. Dumplings and other bites will get the crowd buzzing in the office or elsewhere. Prices start at about $1,825 for 100 guests for two hours, including cart rental, paper goods, and server and chef staff (not inclusive of gratuity or taxes).

10. Take the group for some social lubrication along with Los Angeles culture at Angel City Brewing, which just moved downtown to a 27,000-square-foot space complete with tasting bar that has room for 20.

World’s Oldest Champagne to be Auctioned

Two bottles of 200-year old champagne recently salvaged from a Baltic Sea shipwreck will be auctioned off in June.

Finland’s autonomous province of Aaland “has decided that two bottles will be sold at an exclusive champagne auction held in (the capital) Mariehamn on June 3, 2011″.

One of the auctioned bottles will be from the house of Veuve-Clicquot and the other from the now extinct house of Juglar.

They are part of a batch of around 150 champagne bottles divers stumbled upon last July in a two-masted schooner which had run aground sometime between 1825 and 1830.

Salvaging of bottles — preserved in ideal conditions at the bottom of the Baltic Sea — began in August and authorities identified the bottles as the world’s oldest Juglar and Veuve Clicquot brands.

In January, they announced Heidsieck champagne bottles were also in the lot.

“These bottles are unparalleled in the market. You can only speculate on what the end price will be, but it will probably be at record levels,” champagne expert Richard Juhlin said in the statement.

In November, when the champagne was uncorked for the world’s media and wine experts to taste, Juhlin told AFP that either bottle could fetch 100,000 euros ($144,925).

“Ah!” he had let out in appreciation when tasting the two-century-old bubbly, describing the Juglar as “more intense and powerful, mushroomy,” and the Veuve-Clicquot as more like Chardonnay, with notes of “linden blossoms and lime peels”.

Aaland officials announced at the tasting event the province would auction off one bottle of each make, but no date had been made public until now.

The designated auction house is Acker Merall and Condit.

The Aaland archipelago at the mouth of the Gulf of Bothnia belongs to Finland, though it enjoys autonomy from Helsinki and locals speak Swedish.

Angels & Kings: New L.A. Outpost

THE WALKTHROUGH 06.03.10 12:10 PM
Angels & Kings has expanded with a new outpost in Los Angeles on Las Palmas Avenue. Pete Wentz is part owner and a member of the team behind the other bars of the same name in Chicago, New York, and Barcelona. Mike Malin and Lonnie Moore of the Dolce Group have put their own stamp on the venue while holding onto some of the feel of the original, presenting a bar with an intimate, neighborhood feel.

The venue is 1,922 square feet, with a legal capacity of 125. The space is available for buyout; the cost depends on the day of the week. Angels & Kings is DJ ready, although most equipment must be brought in for an event.

Overall, the vibe is masculine, with dark colors and multiple textures, including tufted leather seating. The decor is a conversation starter and includes a giant antelope head with machine guns for antlers. Heavy curtains surround booth seating, and framed mug shots of famous people deck exposed brick walls.

There is a custom chestnut wood bar set with leather stools. On offer is a broad selection of beers, whiskeys, and rums, and the venue offers bar fare like tapas and burgers.
